What happens next

Once the dialogue has taken place between Barnfield Cars and Yourself and both parties are satisfied then a mutual agreement is in place, the following simple steps are taken leading up to the successful completion of our transaction.

Step 1 – Confirmation of vehicle

We will send a brief email to confirm your description and detailing the vehicle mileage, condition, service history, and provenance. Please return the email to confirm our presumptions or to add any notes. All we ask if you to be open and honest in relation to the vehicle appraisal, if there is any damage/fault then please do mention it to avoid any inconvenience upon inspection at the point of collection.

Step 2 – Documentation

Unlike any other car buying service, we pay a deposit upon the receipt of the following documentation, preferably sent via email as a scanned attachment or image file;

  1. The front and inner left page of the current v5C (log book)
  2. A copy of your I.D – preferably with an address that matches that of the V5C
  3. Confirmation of the bank account, name, sort code, and account number
  4. If applicable, a valid settlement figure from the finance company, and not to expire in advance of collection

Step 3 – Payment & Logistics

Once we are in receipt of all the above, we will agree a mutually convenient collection date, this can be at your home of office.

Step 4 – Inspection, Settlement of final account(s), and Collection

In advance of collection, we will be in contact to confirm an estimated time of arrival. Upon arrival, the vehicle will be efficiently inspected, along with a check over of all the paperwork and inventory, i.e. spare keys, locking wheel nut key, tools, handbook pack, service history, etc. In the rare event that there has been an error in your appraisal, we may need to have further conversation. Once everything is in order will make the final balance payment to the same nominated account, this is paid via the HSBC business faster payments system the most efficient way of making secure payments. Proof of this payment will be provided.

We are licensed and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and authorised to settle any outstanding finance directly with the finance company, this will be paid in advance of the settlement date. Important note, unlike the receipt of the final balance, the finance company will not confirm receipt of funds or show your account as clear for up to 7 days, and in some instances can take up to 14 days to clear the Hpi record, therefore we cannot wait for the finance company to confirm receipt of funds before the release of the vehicle.
